Introducing Mr. Dog......

The veteran of our pack, is Dog. Mr. Dog was rescued by my boyfriend, Joe after he discovered a listing for Dog on Craigslist. Joe found out that Dog was being used to train dogs to fight. He was bound with ropes and chains and was riddled with lacerations, tears, and holes all over his body. When he and Joe met it was love at first sight. I'm not sure who rescued who on this case, but it was definitely the start of a  relationship that would change each of them forever.

Truth be told, Dog is why I am such an advocate for Pit Bulls and so passionate about being a voice for the voiceless. It all began when Joe and I started dating. Joe wanted me to meet his dog. (I am sure what he really wanted to do was to see if it was a good idea to take our friendship further after accessing Dog's reaction to me. =) ). I have always been raised with a fear of Pits and how they were so aggressive. So of course, I was a little unnerved about our encounter. I was expecting this fierce, vicious, aggressive dog to rampage me. Instead, what I got was a belly full of laughs. He was so curious as to who I was and so eager to say hello that I immediately felt at ease. I was still cautious, of course, but I had relaxed a great deal. Dog wanted to let me know he approved so badly, that he jumped onto a picnic table to get close to me (I was standing a bit away from the edge he was at) that he fell off of the table (no injury, he landed on his feet) with such a lack of grace and poise that I lost it then. I think you could probably hear me laughing 100 miles away. Thus begin a bond and relationship that would change my life forever.

Dog is the complete opposite of what the masses would consider a Pit Bull to be. He is kind, caring, humorous, sensitive, protective, loving, loyal, and so many other wonderful things. He has completely stolen my heart and I am so glad that I was blessed with the opportunity to have him be a part of my life. I have gained a best friend for a life-time.
